Near-natural forest

Near-natural forest – a forest with a tree species composition which predominantly reflects the locality conditions, although the spatial structure and tree species composition are simpler than in a natural forest. These stands were formed under the influence of humans and they can reach their current condition by deliberate actions of humans. The long-term development of these forests was directed by man and evidence of this intervention is still apparent (removal of dead wood, felling of trees, forest improvements etc.).
