Vrbka´s Stone

Boulder with memorial tablet to the headteacher and custodian of the Znojmo Museum Anton Vrbka (1860 - 1939), who helped to save a large number of archaeological finds from the Podyjí region. The German-speaking patriot Vrbka was a great expert on history and a lover of the historical heritage of Znojmo. The best known of his many historical studies is the “Gedenkbuch der Stadt Znaim 1226-1926“. The original Vrbka Stone was deliberately destroyed by the communist military training in the 1950s. The new memorial stone was installed by the Znojmo Beautifying Society in 2005, near the site of the original stone and close to the tourist trail across Kraví hora Hill.
