Can protected trees and bushes be felled according to the law?

Woody plants may be protected as “tree monuments” (§ 46 of the Act) or as “specially protected plant species” (§ 48 of the Act). Such trees or bushes can be felled if there is a serious reason for doing so, but applicants must obtain and “exception from the Act” for tree monuments and specially protected plant species according to the Act (§ 56 paragraph 1). An exception will be given by the nature protection body (Podyjí NP Administration) only in the case that other public interests are considerably more important than the interests of nature protection.

At the beginning of the May we have found new place, where wild garlic (Allium ursinum) grows. First two plants have burst into the flowers in the forest at the Dyje bank on Jaroslav Krejčí trail near Papírna. We believe that wild garlic population start to grow there. The spot is close to tourist trail and thus can flowers be admired by everybody there.
